With over fifty Members in attendance, Women Playing For T.I.M.E. hosted its annual Fall Meeting on Monday, September 14. Several new volunteers were introduced along with members from Central Florida’s first Pink Dragon Boat team. The membership worked through a busy agenda and discussed numerous exciting events and fundraising activities that are planned for September and October.

WPFT will host its 17th annual charity golf tournament at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club on October 26th and 27th. Hall of Fame golfer, Annika Sorenstam will be the keynote speaker for the opening luncheon. WPFT is partnering with the ANNIKA Academy, to raise breast cancer awareness and support by offering a selection of ANNIKA Academy golf packages to the WPFT community members and affiliates.

Women Playing For T.I.M.E. was recently featured in the October edition of Orange Appeal Magazine. The two page article covers a wide range of WPFT activities from the new partnership with the ANNIKA Academy to Pink Dragon Boat racing , and explains how the organization is expanding its reach and unique sisterhood approach to make a positive impact on Central Florida women facing cancer.

Dragon Boat Racing has become the fastest-growing team sport in the world. Learn more about its origin, and growing global popularity. WPFT is co-sponsoring the first Pink Dragon Boat Team   who make their racing debut on October 17th at Walt Disney World Resort®. WPFT is adding a WPFT Dragon Support Boat that will be filled with friends, family members and supporters of breast cancer survivors. Please click here to learn more and participate.

WPFT members, friends and family are invited to show support and attend the Orlando Hope Hike on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 10:30a. Participants will meet on the steps of Orlando City Hall to join M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando and city officials in proclaiming October as “Pink October” in recognition of progress made in the fight against the disease. Please wear pink! To begin the Power of Pink Campaign, everyone is invited to attend the Brighton Collectibles Annual Kick Off Breakfast on Saturday, September 26. The breakfast will be held at the Brighton Collectibles store located in the Mall of Millenia. For the 6th year in a row, Brighton Collectibles has named WPFT and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center - Orlando as the beneficiary of the event. Click here for more information and to view new items.

Bloomingdale’s at Mall at Millenia will host their 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Walk on September 27th from 7:30a – 10a, in the air conditioned comfort of the Mall at Millenia. Registration opens at 7:30 am and the walk begins at 8:00. Several stores plan to open early offering specials to the walkers. Panera Bread is providing Pink Ribbon bagels and coffee. Prizes will be awarded. $10 minimum suggested to participate. Click here for more information.

On Thursday, October 15th, Saks Fifth Avenue is hosting “Key to Fine Dining,” a gala evening event with food, drink, and displays of beautiful table decorations created by well known local designers. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando and WPFT are the recipients of the proceeds. Tickets are $35.00. There is a great line up of participating restaurants offering great food. During the month of Pink October, 25¢ from each pink ribbon bagel purchased in any Central Florida Panera Bread store will be donated to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando through Women Playing For T.I.M.E. Since Panera began the Pink Ribbon Bagel in 2004, they have contributed over $67,000 from their October bagel sales to WPFT and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando.

During the month of Pink October, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits retail stores will partner with Fat Bastard wine and donate 25¢ from each bottle of Fat Bastard wine sold to Women Playing For T.I.M.E. This applies only to Fat Bastard wine sold at ABC retail outlets. Look for the display signs in ABC stores that are offering this promotion. Last year, Fat Bastard wine donated $6,000 to WPFT as a result of this promotion.

Pink October is just a few weeks away and Women Playing For T.I.M.E.'s logo has been enhanced with a deeper shade of pink! The new background color was selected to compliment WPFT design elements that are used in other communication and collateral materials.
